Florence Deshon was born as Florence Danks on July 19, 1893, in Tacoma, Washington. She was the daughter of Samuel and Florence C. Danks, and her ancestry included both Austrian and English roots. Deshon entered the entertainment world as a stage actress, sharing the stage with well-known names such as Mary Boland.

Career

Deshon made her film debut in 1915 in The Beloved Vagabond and went on to star in 24 silent films, achieving fame particularly for her performance in The Desired Woman in 1918. Her last movie role was in The Roof Tree, released in 1921, shortly before her untimely passing.

Death and Legacy

Florence Deshon died on February 4, 1922, in New York City from illuminating gas poisoning. She was found unconscious in her apartment with a gas jet left open. While the New York Medical Examiner ruled her death an accident, there were lingering rumors that it could have been a suicide due to personal grief.
