Florence Vidor was born as Florence Iona Arto on July 23, 1895, in Houston, Texas. She was the daughter of John F. Arto, who worked as a realtor, and Ida. Florence studied at public and finishing schools, and briefly attended the Convent of the Sacred Heart. She married filmmaker King Vidor in 1915, with whom she had a daughter named Suzanne in 1919. The couple later moved to Hollywood in pursuit of their careers.

Career

Florence started her acting career in silent films, quickly gaining recognition for her roles. She starred alongside notable actors such as Sessue Hayakawa and Julian Eltinge. Under the direction of her husband, she appeared in significant films like The Other Half and Alice Adams, solidifying her status as a leading actress.
