Forrest Compton was the son of Harry Oswald Compton and Estella D. Noecker. He married Jeanne Sementini on September 28, 1975, and they remained together until his death. The couple did not have any children. Compton grew up in Pennsylvania and attended Swarthmore College and Yale Drama School, where he studied acting alongside future stars.

Career

Compton started his acting career in 1954, primarily featured in television commercials before moving on to TV serials. He had a significant role as Lt. Col. Edward Gray in “Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C.” and appeared in various other shows, including “The F.B.I.” and “The Edge of Night,” where he portrayed district attorney Mike Karr for thirteen years. He retired in 2002 and spent his later years on Shelter Island, New York.
