Frankie’s career began in music halls, where he created revues filled with jokes and comic songs. He gained significant acclaim for his role in the musical “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum” and the satire series “That Was the Week That Was,” although he struggled with depression and self-doubt throughout his life.

Frankie Howerd passed away on April 19, 1992, due to heart failure after being hospitalized for respiratory issues. He was buried at St. Gregory’s Church in Weare, Somerset.
