George Melly, originally named Alan George Heywood Melly, was married twice. His first marriage was to Victoria Vaughan from April 26, 1955, until their divorce in 1962, with whom he had one child. He married his second wife, Diana Ashe, on May 7, 1963, and they remained together until his death, having one child together as well.

Death and Legacy

George Melly passed away on July 5, 2007, from lung cancer and vascular dementia. He was known for his candid discussions about his life in his autobiography, where he revealed details about his bisexuality, affairs, and experiences with drugs. Melly declined an honor, the C.B.E., for his contributions to music in 2001, reflecting his independent spirit.
