Gerd Briese was born on December 24, 1897, in Thorn, West Prussia, Germany, now known as Torun, Poland. He was married to Asta Gräfin von Roedern from 1938 until his death in 1957. His artistic career faced interruptions during World War II when he served as a soldier from 1939 to 1945.

Career

Briese had a brief film career in the 1920s, but he later focused more on theater. After the war, he became the manager of the Oldenburger Staatstheater from 1949 to 1954. His notable film roles after the war included “Benehmen ist Glückssache” and “Es geschah am 20. Juli,” both released in 1955.

Death and Legacy

Gerd Briese died in a car accident in Berlin in August 1957 at the age of 59. His work in film and theater left a mark on the German arts scene during his lifetime. Despite his short film career, he is remembered for his contributions to German cinema and theater.
