Briese had a brief film career in the 1920s, but he later focused more on theater. After the war, he became the manager of the Oldenburger Staatstheater from 1949 to 1954. His notable film roles after the war included “Benehmen ist Glückssache” and “Es geschah am 20. Juli,” both released in 1955.
