Gerda Gmelin was the daughter of actor Helmut Gmelin. She had two sons, Matthias and Christian Masuth, and raised them as a single mother. From 1959 until 1999, she directed the “Theater im Zimmer” in Hamburg, an establishment founded by her father. She was divorced from her spouse, Leo Masuth.

Death and Legacy

Gmelin died on April 14, 2003, in Hamburg, Germany, and is buried in the “Garten der Frauen” cemetery. Her contributions to theater and film left a lasting legacy, particularly in the Hamburg arts community.
