Gerhard was the son of a railway official and had a diverse family life. He was married three times, first to Eva Probst, with whom he had one child, and later to Anita Swarowski, with whom he had five children. His final marriage was to Gertrud Anna Wettstein, which lasted from 1991 until his death. In total, he fathered seven children.

Career

Riedmann began his career after studying music and theater at the Max-Reinhardt-Seminar. He worked in various theaters, including the Theater an der Josefstadt in Vienna, and became particularly known for his romantic leads in films. While acting, he also held a position as Project Director in his father-in-law’s glass and optics factory.
