Gladys MacClure

Gladys MacClure was an American actress who is best known for her roles in “Oh! Louise!”, “The Midnight Girl,” and “The Love Auction.” Born as Gladys Ethel McClure on August 5, 1914, in Fort Worth, Texas, she was a talented performer whose career was tragically cut short.

Personal and Family Life

Gladys Ethel McClure was born to Samuel Hugh McClure and Flora Parthenia McClure. She attended Tenth Ward School in Fort Worth and later went to a finishing school in Chatham, Virginia. Gladys lived in Beverly Hills with her sister, actress Adrienne Ames, who was also a significant influence in her life and career.

Career

Gladys appeared on stage and screen, performing under the name Linda Marsh (sometimes credited as Linda March). She was known for her work in early film shorts during the silent era, showcasing her talents in a brief but impactful career.

Death and Legacy

On November 26, 1933, Gladys was involved in a car accident while traveling back from a Stanford University football celebration. The crash occurred on Bayshore Highway near San Francisco, resulting in the deaths of four individuals, including Gladys. Her sister Adrienne learned of the tragedy while on honeymoon in Honolulu. Gladys was buried on December 7, 1933, in Oakwood Cemetery, Fort Worth, and in 1947, her sister was laid to rest beside her.
