Glendon Gabbard

Personal and Family Life

Glendon Gabbard was married to Lucina Paquet from January 29, 1942, until her death on May 23, 2006. Together, they had two sons: Glen Gabbard, a psychiatry professor at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, and Krin Gabbard, a professor of comparative literature at the State University of New York at Stonybrook and a jazz expert. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in theater and music from Berea College and later studied drama at Louisiana State University, where he met his wife. During World War II, he served in the Navy, and after the war, he obtained a doctorate from the University of Iowa.

Death and Legacy

Glendon Gabbard died on June 15, 2007, in Houston, Texas. His contributions to theater and film continue to be remembered, particularly through his influence on students such as actors Joan Allen and John Malkovich during his teaching career at Eastern Illinois University.
