Glenn Anders was born on September 1, 1889, in Los Angeles, California. He studied at the Wallace dramatic school and started performing in vaudeville before moving to New York in 1919. He attended Columbia University during that period before making his Broadway debut in the same year.

Career

Anders had a long and respected career on stage, appearing in three Pulitzer Prize-winning plays. While most of his work was in theater, he also transitioned to film, featuring in about eight movies from 1925 to 1951. His most notable role was as George Grisby in “The Lady from Shanghai” in 1948.

Death and Legacy

Glenn Anders passed away on October 26, 1981, in Englewood, New Jersey, at the age of 92. After retiring, he lived in Mexico for several years before settling at the Actor’s Fund Home in the U.S. His contributions to both stage and film continue to be remembered.
