Gorgeous George was born George Raymond Wagner on March 24, 1915, in Seward, Nebraska. He was married three times, first to Betty Hanson, then to Cherie Dupré, and finally to Eula Wagner. He had a total of four children from these marriages. Before becoming a wrestling star, he had even trained to be a psychiatrist.

Gorgeous George passed away on December 26, 1963, in Los Angeles, California, due to a heart attack.
