Born Dale D’Orr on April 5, 1915, in Atlanta, Georgia, Greg McClure’s family moved to Oakland, California when he was young. He faced family challenges, including his parents’ divorce when he was just 12. Greg was married twice and had four daughters – Teri-Ann, Topni, Cheryl, and Bonnie – from his first marriage to Marjorie Hoover, his high-school sweetheart.

Career

Greg McClure’s acting career began after he moved to Hollywood, where he started a bodybuilding gym with his brother. Initially, he worked as an extra in films before landing a lead role in “The Great John L.” His acting career was interrupted when he was drafted into the Army. Despite his promising start, McClure struggled to maintain his career due to political controversies, leading him to leave Hollywood altogether in 1951.

Death and Legacy

Greg McClure passed away at the age of 97 on December 7, 2012, in Iowa. Even though his Hollywood career was brief, he made a significant impact during the 1940s and 50s. After leaving acting, he continued to be active in various occupations, showcasing his skills as a carpenter and a businessman.
