Post was a prominent stage actor who traveled the country before finding success on Broadway. He moved to Hollywood in 1934, appearing in many films and gaining fame as a versatile character actor. Over his career, he performed in over 2,000 live performances of the stage production of The Masquerader before transitioning to film, where he made his debut in a movie adaptation of the same name.
