Guy Raymond was born on July 1, 1911, in Manhattan, New York City. He was married twice, first to Evelyn L. Scher and later to Ann Morgan Guilbert, who was also an actress. He was the stepfather to actress Hallie Todd and Nora Eckstein and had a close relationship with his family throughout his life.

Raymond started his career as a dancer, performing at the Chin Lee’s Restaurant in New York City at just 15 years old. He became part of a popular dance duo named ‘Shea & Raymond’ and toured in the U.S. and Europe with famous big bands.
