Hauk Aabel

Hauk Aabel was a Norwegian actor who is best known for his roles in silent films and Norwegian theatre. Born on April 21, 1869, in Forde, Norway, he had a significant impact on the entertainment industry, especially during the silent film era.

Hauk Aabel was married to Svanhild Johannessen, and together they had two children. His father was Morten Andreas Leigh Aabel, and his mother was Wilhelmine Louise Collet. Hauk was also the father of actor Per Aabel, who became a well-known comic actor in Norway, continuing the family’s legacy in the performing arts.

Career

Hauk Aabel made his first stage appearance in 1897 at the Christiania Theater in Oslo, quickly establishing himself as a prominent figure in Norwegian theatre. In 1917, he ventured into silent films in Sweden, and later returned to Norway in 1927 where he continued acting in various films, even after sound was introduced. His final film appearance was in 1938 when he was 71 years old.

Death and Legacy

Hauk Aabel passed away on December 12, 1961, in Oslo, Norway. His contributions to Norwegian cinema and theatre left a lasting legacy, influencing future generations of actors. His son, Per Aabel, and grandson Andreas Aabel continued the family tradition of comedy and acting in Norway.
