Henry Nakamura

Henry Nakamura was an American actor who is best known for his roles in “Go For Broke,” “Westward the Women,” and “Blood Alley.” He was born on December 5, 1928, in Honolulu, Hawaii, and passed away on February 6, 2016, in Okinawa, Japan.

Personal and Family Life

Nakamura was originally placed in an internment camp after the attack on Pearl Harbor. However, he left the camp to join the Navy, where he served as a Japanese interpreter. He graduated from Farrington High School and the University of Hawaii and was a veteran of the Korean War. He was married to Koto and had one son, Derek.

Career

Henry Nakamura worked in Hollywood during the 1950s, appearing in several films directed by William A. Wellman. His acting credits include notable titles such as “Go For Broke!” and “Westward the Women.” After his acting career, he transitioned to federal service, working in Okinawa for over 32 years before retiring in 1993.

Death and Legacy

Nakamura passed away at the age of 87 due to pneumonia in Okinawa. He is remembered for his contributions to film and his service to the country. He was survived by his wife Koto, his son Derek, and several siblings as well as nieces and nephews.
