Hermione Baddeley

Hermione Baddeley was an English actress best known for her roles in Mary Poppins, Room at the Top, and Maude.

Born on November 13, 1906, in Broseley, Shropshire, Hermione Youlanda Ruby Clinton-Baddeley was the youngest of four sisters, including fellow actress Angela Baddeley. She had a daughter named Pauline Tennant from her first marriage and went through two divorces during her life.

Career

Hermione began her acting career in 1918, performing in London stage comedies and revues. She made her film debut in 1927 but gained significant recognition in the 1940s, particularly for her character role as Ida in Brighton Rock (1948). Hermione became well-known for her thick Cockney accent and her portrayal of memorable characters in cinema and on television.

Death and Legacy

Baddeley passed away on August 19, 1986, in Los Angeles, California, due to a stroke. She is remembered for her distinctive acting style and contributions to film and television, leaving behind a legacy that continues to be celebrated.
