Jack Warden

Jack Warden was an American actor who is best known for his roles in 12 Angry Men, Heaven Can Wait, and Being There.

Personal and Family Life

Born John Warden Lebzelter Jr. on September 18, 1920, in Newark, New Jersey, Warden was raised in a working-class family. He was expelled from school for fighting, after which he pursued a career in boxing. Jack married Wanda Ottoni in 1958, and they had one child together. Although they separated in the mid-1970s, they remained legally married until his death.

Career

Warden served in the US Navy before becoming an actor. His breakthrough came with his role in 12 Angry Men (1957), and he later appeared in several major films, including From Here to Eternity and The Verdict. He earned two Academy Award nominations during his career and was recognized for his work in both drama and comedy.
