Jacqueline Kennedy

Jacqueline Kennedy was an American first lady who is best known for her grace and style during her time as the wife of President John F. Kennedy and for her later marriage to Aristotle Onassis.

Personal and Family Life

Born on July 28, 1929, in Southampton, New York, Jacqueline Lee Bouvier grew up in a wealthy family. She attended several prestigious schools, including Vassar College and the Sorbonne in Paris, before graduating from George Washington University. Jackie met John F. Kennedy while working as a photographer and they got married on September 12, 1953. Together, they had four children, but faced the tragedy of losing a stillborn daughter and a son shortly after birth.

Later Life

After the assassination of her husband in 1963, Jackie struggled with grief, having lost not only her husband but also two of her children. In 1968, she married Greek shipping magnate Aristotle Onassis, seeking a fresh start. Following Onassis’s death in 1975, Jackie returned to New York and found work as a book editor, while focusing on raising her children and enjoying time with her grandchildren.

Death and Legacy

Jacqueline Kennedy was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma in the early 1990s and died on May 19, 1994, in New York City. Her legacy includes her significant contributions to American culture, her commitment to historic preservation, and her lasting influence on fashion as the epitome of style and elegance.
