James T. Callahan was born on October 4, 1930, in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He served in the U.S. Army in West Germany during the early 1950s. After his service, he studied drama at the University of Washington, where he discovered his passion for acting. He was married to Peggy Cannon from May 18, 1994, until his passing in 2007.

Career

Callahan’s acting career began in the early 1960s, with numerous appearances on television and in films. He is most recognized for portraying Mr. Powell, a Navy man, on the popular sitcom Charles in Charge. Though he had many roles, his performance as Mr. Powell left a lasting impression on audiences.

Death and Legacy

James T. Callahan passed away on August 3, 2007, in Fallbrook, California, due to esophageal cancer, which he was diagnosed with in February of that year. His contribution to television and film has been remembered fondly by fans and colleagues alike.
