He had a daughter named Penelope Reed-Woods, who became the Producing Artistic Director of The Hedgerow Theatre in Media, Pennsylvania. Reed was married to Judith Emily Seaton and Janet Mary Cade during his lifetime. He had an older sister named Susan Reed.
