From 1931 to 1933, Jean performed in extra and bit parts at M.G.M. and Hal Roach Studios and later became a leading performer in burlesque. After splitting from her sister in 1936, Jean continued to work in show business until around 1964. During this time, she collaborated with her husband Bob Carney and comedian Billie Bird at the Colony Club in Gardena during the 1950s.
