Jeanne Bates was an American actress best known for her roles in “Eraserhead,” “Mulholland Drive,” and “Die Hard 2.”

Jeanne was born on May 21, 1918, in Berkeley, California. She was married to Louis Xavier “Lew X” Lansworth from October 8, 1943, until his death on November 14, 1981. Before becoming an actress, she worked as a model for billboards and magazines. She studied acting and drama at San Mateo Junior College and started her career in radio soap operas in San Francisco.

Career

Jeanne Bates began her acting journey in radio, particularly as the lead in “Whodunit,” which was a significant success and led to her move to Hollywood. She signed with Columbia Pictures, where she debuted in a Boston Blackie mystery. Throughout her career, Bates appeared in numerous films and television shows, gaining acclaim for her versatile performances.

Death and Legacy

Jeanne Bates passed away on November 28, 2007, in Woodland Hills, California, due to breast cancer. She was laid to rest at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in the Hollywood Hills. Bates left behind a legacy as a talented actress who contributed to many notable projects in the entertainment industry.
