Jerry Summers was born on February 3, 1931, in the Bronx, New York. He was married to Frankie Summers from 1978 until his passing in 2006, and together they had six children. An accomplished athlete, he pursued acting under the guidance of Richard Boone.

Summers began his career in the mid-1950s, establishing himself as a talented stuntman and actor. He doubled for famous actors such as Tony Curtis and Sal Mineo. Among his notable performances, he played the character Ira Bean in the first season of the Western series The High Chaparral (1967) and performed stunts for the iconic TV series The Dukes of Hazzard.
