Jim Ameche was born on August 6, 1915, in Kenosha, Wisconsin. He was the brother of the famous actor Don Ameche. Jim had several nieces and nephews, including Ronald, Thomas, Lawrence, Barbara, Constance, and Don Ameche Jr.
Career
Before becoming an actor, Jim was well-known as a radio personality in New York City. He famously played Jack Armstrong, the All-American Boy, and portrayed mountie Jim West on ABC Radio’s “Silver Eagle” from 1951 to 1955. In film, he played the role of Alexander Graham Bell in the 1957 movie The Story of Mankind, echoing his brother Don’s earlier portrayal of the same character in 1939.
