João Paulo Adour

João Paulo Adour was a Brazilian actor who is best known for his roles in “O Bem-Amado,” “Gabriela,” and “As Sete Faces de um Cafajeste.”

Personal and Family Life

Born on November 7, 1944, in Rio de Janeiro, João Paulo Adour was the son of writer Jayme Adour da Câmara and socialite Leonor Pereira. He had one brother, Carlos Leopoldo, who was also known as a chronicler. João left law school in his third year to pursue acting and became a recognized talent in theater, TV, and film.

Career

Adour began his acting career in 1962 with the play “Família Pouco Família,” earning accolades for his performance. He studied theater in Europe in 1965 and returned to Brazil, where he starred in several successful plays. In 1968, he joined Tupi TV for his first telenovela and then moved to Globo TV, receiving the ‘Troféu Helena Silveira’ award for “Bandeira 2” in 1971. However, his later roles were mainly supporting parts.

Death and Legacy

João Paulo Adour passed away on September 3, 2018, in Rio de Janeiro. After leaving acting in 1986, he chose to focus on managing his family’s wealth and indulging in his passions like collecting art and traveling. His contributions to Brazilian theater and television continue to be remembered.
