Joaquín Cordero was born on August 16, 1923, in Puebla, Mexico. He married Alma Guzmán Sotomayor in 1950, and they had three children together. Cordero’s father was Rafael Cordero Pita from Puebla, and his mother was Rosario Aurrecoechea Jiménez from Guerrero. His family moved to Mexico City shortly after his birth.

Career

Initially, Cordero pursued a law degree but changed his mind and decided to become an actor against his family’s wishes. He started off with small roles but quickly gained recognition in the early 1950s, becoming a sought-after actor in Mexican films, theater, and television.
