Joe Ames was married twice; his first wife was Gertrude Henrietta Haussler, with whom he had one daughter, Jo-Allen Ames. Later, he married Ingeborg Heittman. He was the brother of Gene, Vic, and Ed Ames, who were part of the famous vocal group “The Ames Brothers.” Joe also had several nieces and nephews, including Ronald and Sonya Ames.
