Joey Ambrose

Joey Ambrose was an American actor and musician who is best known for his work with Bill Haley and the Comets, particularly on the iconic song “Rock Around the Clock.” He was born Joseph D’Ambrosio on March 23, 1934, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Career

Ambrose was the saxophone player for Bill Haley’s Original Comets during the mid-1950s. After leaving the Comets, he formed a new band called The Jodimars. Following the breakup of The Jodimars, Joey worked as a pit boss at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas before rejoining The Comets in 1987, continuing to perform and record music. As a session musician, he garnered a reputation for his talent and versatility.
