He became a top star at MGM after signing with them in 1924, featuring in hits like “The Big Parade” and “La Bohème.” His on-screen chemistry with Greta Garbo was sensational, leading to both professional and romantic entanglements.

John Gilbert died of heart failure on January 9, 1936, in Los Angeles, California. Although he faced many challenges, including the decline of his career and struggles with alcohol, he is remembered as a significant figure in early cinema.
