John Lupton

Born on August 22, 1928, in Highland Park, Illinois, John Lupton grew up in Milwaukee. He developed an interest in acting during high school and trained at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. He was married twice, first to Anne Tyson, with whom he had a daughter named Rollin Tyson Lupton, and later to Dian Lee Friml, who was related to the composer Rudolf Friml.

Career

Lupton’s career started on Broadway with roles in productions like Diamond Lil. He later transitioned to film and TV, with a notable part in Battle Cry. His role in Broken Arrow solidified his recognition, playing Tom Jeffords alongside other talents. Lupton continued to land roles in various popular TV series throughout the 1960s and 70s.
