John Slater

John Slater was married to actress Betty Levy from 1941 until his death in 1975. The couple had two children together. He was the son of Leonard Slater and Golda Olga Court. Slater was known for portraying tough Cockney characters and had a long career in film and television, starting in 1941.

In 1946, Slater suffered serious injuries due to an air crash in France, which impacted his career. Despite these difficulties, he became famous for his role as Sergeant Stone in the popular TV series Z Cars, which aired in 1962. He also provided the voice for the narrator in the short film Shunter Black’s Night Off in 1941.
