Jászai was initially encouraged by her parents to pursue a career as a teacher, which she did until retirement. Despite her passion for acting, it wasn’t until 1984 that she got her big break after being discovered by theater director József Bor during a recitation. She quickly became a well-known figure in Hungarian theater.

Joli Jászai passed away on September 26, 2008, in Piliscsaba, Hungary, from natural causes. She left a lasting legacy in Hungarian cinema and theater, with her ashes laid to rest in the public cemetery in Pécs, ensuring her memory would endure.
