Jose Prakash was born on April 14, 1925, in Kottayam, Kerala, India, as K Baby Joseph. Initially not aiming for an acting career, he spent eight years in the Indian army before returning to his hometown to start a small business. His passion for cinema and music led him to form the Kottayam Arts Club, where he was a lead singer.
Career Beginnings
Jose Prakash’s entry into acting was somewhat accidental. During a cultural event, he caught the attention of actor Thikkurissi Sukumaran Nair and composer Dakshinamoorthy, who encouraged him to take up acting and singing in films. Thikkurissi later renamed him Jose Prakash, providing him with a new identity in the film industry.
Death and Legacy
Jose Prakash passed away on March 24, 2012, in Kakkanad, Kerala, India, due to heart failure. He left behind a legacy of memorable performances, especially as a character actor in numerous Malayalam films. He won several awards, including the Kerala State Television Award for Best Actor in 1993.
