Joseph Campanella was born on November 21, 1924, in New York City. He was married to Kathryn Jill Bartholomew from May 30, 1964, until his death in 2018, and they had seven children together. His father, Philip Campanella, was a musician, and his brother, Frank Campanella, also pursued a career in acting.

Career

Campanella began his acting career on stage in the 1950s and quickly became a familiar face in television, appearing in numerous shows throughout the 1960s and 70s. He earned an Emmy nomination for his role on Mannix and was known for portraying characters such as priests and police officers.
