June Gittelson was born on May 6, 1910, in Los Angeles, California. She was married to Melvin Brian Thale until his death in 1991. June did not have any children. Her parents were Max Gittelson and Rose Lurie Gittelson, and she had a sibling named Sarah “Sid” Tyre.

Gittelson was a chubby character comedienne and was often seen as a foil in many Three Stooges shorts. Throughout her career, she appeared in various films that showcased her comedic talent and distinct personality.
