June Weaver was an American actress known for her roles in “Swing Your Lady,” “Grand Ole Opry,” and “Mountain Rhythm.” She gained fame as part of the popular musical comedy trio “The Weaver Brothers and Elviry.”

Personal and Family Life

June Weaver, born June Petrie on June 23, 1891, in Chicago, Illinois, was raised in Springfield, Missouri. She had two children from previous marriages before she met Leon Weaver while performing in medicine shows. She married Leon before World War I and later married his brother Frank after her first marriage ended.

Career

June joined the act of “The Weaver Brothers” and helped the trio gain popularity in vaudeville and radio. Their performances attracted large audiences, and they even performed for the Queen of England. Their family act continued to thrive even during the Great Depression, and they shared stages with well-known entertainers of the time.

Death and Legacy

After Leon’s death in 1950, June and Frank moved back to California. Frank passed away in 1967, and June died on November 27, 1977, at the age of 86. Her contributions to the entertainment industry, especially in musical comedy, left a lasting impact.
