Juozas Kiselius was born on June 22, 1949, in the small Lithuanian town of Joniskis to a family of employees. He developed an interest in acting during his school years and later enrolled in the Vilnius Conservatory’s acting department in 1967. After completing his studies, he began his professional career at the State Academic Drama Theater of the Lithuanian SSR.

Career

Kiselius made his film debut in 1974 with “Zvangutis” and gained more recognition with his roles in “Sodybų tuštėjimo metas” and “Virto Ąžuolai” in 1976. His breakthrough came in 1977 when he starred in the lead role of “Surma hinda küsi surnutelt,” and he continued to gain popularity with the 1982 film “Dolgaya doroga v dyunakh,” directed by Aloizs Brencs.

Death and Legacy

Juozas Kiselius passed away on May 10, 1991, in Vilnius, Lithuania, due to aortic dissection. His contributions to Lithuanian theater and cinema are remembered fondly, leaving a legacy that continues to inspire new generations of actors.
