Personal and Family Life
Kit Carson was born Eldridge Franklin Carson in Wray, Oklahoma, in a large family with seven siblings. He married actress Rosemonde James in 1946, and they had one son, John David Carson, born in 1952. Rosemonde, often called “Boots,” was not just an actress but also became a fashion model and held the position of President of the Mannequins Association of Los Angeles in 1968. The couple divorced in 1967.
Career
Kit started his career dancing in early films but became more recognized for his roles in Westerns. He formed a close friendship with Dale Robertson, resulting in many collaborative projects in films and television. His son, John David, also followed in his footsteps, pursuing a career in acting.
Death and Legacy
Kit Carson passed away on February 12, 1978, from a heart attack in Longview, Texas. He left behind a legacy of memorable performances in classic Westerns and is remembered fondly by his peers and fans. His work significantly contributed to the American film industry during his time.
