Lance Reddick was born to Solomon Reddick and Dorothy Gee, a public schoolteacher. He was the younger of two sons. He was married to Stephanie Diane Day from June 2011 until his death in March 2023. He also had a previous marriage to Suzanne Yvonne Louis, with whom he had two children, Yvonne and Christopher Reddick.

Career

Reddick initially pursued a career in music, studying classical composition at the University of Rochester’s Eastman School of Music. However, a severe back injury led him to switch to acting. He graduated from the Yale School of Drama in 1994 and quickly gained recognition for his intense performances, often playing authority figures.
