Born Zvi Mosheh Skikne on October 1, 1928, in Joniskis, Lithuania, Harvey was the youngest of three brothers in a Jewish family. The family moved to South Africa in 1934. Harvey served in the South African army during World War II, working in the entertainment unit.

Career

Harvey began his acting career in South Africa before moving to London to train at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts. His breakthrough came with the film Room at the Top, which established him as a leading actor. Despite his success, he struggled with a public image marked by debt and financial troubles throughout his career.

Death and Legacy

Laurence Harvey passed away on November 25, 1973, from stomach cancer. He expressed disappointment over his illness, stating he had always taken care of his health. Harvey’s impactful career and unique performances have left a lasting legacy in film history.
