Lionel Belmore

Lionel Belmore was an American actor known for his roles in Frankenstein, Bardelys the Magnificent, and The Vampire Bat. Born on May 12, 1867, in Wimbledon, London, England, he became a prominent figure in both stage and film.

Lionel Belmore came from a family of performers; his father, George Belmore, and mother, Alice Cooke, were both in the entertainment industry. He had a brother named Daisy Belmore, who was also an actress. Belmore was married to Emmeline Florence Carder, with whom he had two children.

Career

Belmore began his career on Broadway in 1899 and ventured into American cinema in 1914. He mainly played character roles such as English butlers and innkeepers. Belmore also directed several short films between 1914 and 1918, and by the 1930s, he was working consistently in Hollywood.
