Lisa Masters was born on March 20, 1964, in Omaha, Nebraska, and grew up in Asheville, North Carolina. She graduated from Appalachian State University with a degree in Broadcasting and a minor in Modern Dance. Lisa was married to William Brooks from March 3, 2004, until her death on November 15, 2016.
Career
Lisa started her career as a news reporter before moving to New York City to pursue modeling and acting. She earned a Master’s Degree from Columbia University while working as a model. After being cast in The Siege (1998), she transitioned fully into acting, appearing in numerous TV commercials and films. Lisa often portrayed strong and quirky female characters in various productions, including Ugly Betty and Blumenthal.
Death and Legacy
On November 15, 2016, Lisa Masters was found dead in a hotel room in Lima, Peru. Authorities suspect suicide, as she was discovered hanging, with antidepressants nearby and letters discussing her mental health history. Her passing left a significant impact on her friends and colleagues, highlighting issues of mental health and the pressures of fame.
