Lorena Carr was an American actress known for her roles in films such as “The Pharmacist,” “Bring ‘Em Back a Wife,” and “Dollar Dizzy.” Born Laura Emma Clark on September 20, 1911, in Ann Arbor, Michigan, she began her career in Hollywood as a dancer before transitioning to acting.
Personal and Family Life
Lorena grew up in Missoula, Montana, where her father was a university professor. After moving to Hollywood in 1927 with her mother and brother, she was offered a contract with Hal Roach’s studios. She married film director Robert Farfan in 1929, but their marriage was annulled just two years later. Tragically, her fifteen-year-old brother, Fay Clark, took his own life shortly after her marriage.
Career Highlights
Although Lorena appeared in over a dozen films, she never achieved major stardom. She gained recognition as “the most beautiful and shapely blond” on the Paramount lot and starred on stage in “George White’s Scandals” in 1934. After retiring from acting, she opened a wholesale dress business in New York City and later remarried.
