Louisa Horton was born in Peiping, China, and raised in Haiti and the Washington, D.C. area. She spent nearly 50 years living in Manhattan. Louisa met her future husband, George Roy Hill, while they were both actors in a Shakespeare repertory company. They married in April 1951 and had four children together, maintaining a close relationship even after their divorce in the 1970s.

Louisa Horton passed away on January 25, 2008, in Englewood, New Jersey. Although the cause of her death was not disclosed, she left behind a legacy in the acting world, being recognized for her unique performances on stage and screen. She was particularly noted for her role as Sally in “The Voice of the Turtle,” where she was the only actress to portray the character in all three productions.
