Marguerite Courtot

Marguerite Courtot was an American actress who is best known for her roles in The Unbeliever, Down to the Sea in Ships, and The Lurking Peril.

Personal and Family Life

Born on August 20, 1897, in Summit, New Jersey, Marguerite was recognized as one of the screen’s great beauties during her time. At the age of 12, she was sent to a European convent for education, but upon her return, her beauty led her to become a successful model. In 1923, she married fellow actor Raymond McKee, and they had one child together.

Career

Marguerite began her acting career in small movie roles in 1912 and quickly transitioned to starring in films. Although she was well known for her comedic roles, she preferred action and drama. During World War I, she took a break from acting to contribute to the war effort by selling bonds. After the war, she continued to find success in serials, particularly in 1919, before taking a step back from the industry to focus on family life.

Marguerite Courtot passed away on May 28, 1986, in Long Beach, California. She lived much of her later life in Hawaii. Although lesser-known today, her contributions to early cinema and her status as a prominent actress in silent films have left a lasting legacy.
