Personal and Family Life

Marguerite Marsh, whose birth name was Marguerite Loveridge Marsh, was the eldest of seven children in her family. After her father passed away, her mother relocated the family to Los Angeles. She married Donald Loveridge in 1907 and had a daughter named Leslie, but the couple divorced in 1913. Marguerite was also the sister of famous actresses Mae Marsh and Mildred Marsh, and she worked alongside her sister Mae in the film Fields of Honor.

Career

Marguerite Marsh began her acting career at Biograph Studios in 1911, making her debut in The Primal Call. Known for her beauty and talent, she played supporting roles in many films but struggled to reach the same level of fame as her sister. Her acting in productions for studios like Goldwyn and Griffith received mixed reviews. Marsh also faced personal challenges, including a romantic relationship with comedian Fred Mace, which ended when she declined his marriage proposal.

Death and Legacy

Tragically, Marguerite Marsh’s life was cut short when she died on December 8, 1925, from bronchial pneumonia in New York City. She was only 37 years old at the time of her death. Marguerite is buried at Woodlawn Cemetery in the Bronx, New York, and remains remembered for her contribution to silent cinema, despite her relatively brief career.
