In 1958, she met Italian journalist Marino de Medici at the Venice Film Festival. They got married, and Marianne took on the name Marianne de Medici as they moved to Washington, D.C. for Marino’s job as a foreign correspondent. During her time in the U.S., she developed friendships with notable figures, including President Lyndon B. Johnson and his wife, Lady Bird.
Death and Legacy
Marianne de Medici and Marino divorced in 1981, after which she returned to her hometown of Västervik. She passed away on April 30, 2005. Her contributions to film during the 1950s left a lasting impact on Swedish cinema.
