Marie Armstrong was an Australian actress who is best known for her roles in The Roly Poly Man, The Miraculous Mellops, and Home and Away.

Born Olive Marie Tancred in Sydney, Australia, she later took her stepfather’s surname, Stonehouse. Marie was married to John Armstrong from March 31, 1951, until his passing on June 27, 1984. She became a life member of Sydney’s New Theatre in 1969, where she had been active since 1948, contributing significantly to the performing arts.

Death and Legacy

Marie Armstrong passed away on October 4, 2020, in Croydon North, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. In recognition of her contributions to the arts, she was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia in 1986. Her legacy continues through her impactful performances in television and theatre.
